We have a friend Ted, a banker now, who in another life experience was an international business executive for a major soda manufacturer. He once accepted a position requiring relocation to Thailand and when inquiring his trusted advice on the viability of offering unique custom made furniture tucked away in the back of a discount wine and cheese store, he didn’t offer a psychological recommendation but rather the following tale.
“Being the stranger, in the strange land, I trusted my local staff to learn the insider take on living in my new cultural environment. To my surprise, each and every man and women on staff related the best place to purchase chicken was the local Robinson piano shop. Chicken at the piano store? Off I went, and indeed it proved true. Being the inquisitive type, I asked the owner among his beautiful pianos, why the chickens? Well, I love pianos, but you don’t need a piano every day, and if I sell you good chicken, you'll come often and I can afford to sell a piano to you at a really good price!”
