Dear Barnyard Relics,
Welcome to Lawrence Crouse Workshop! Our Windsor chairs are unique because we build them as they would have been built two hundred years ago. Four different types of wood are used: hickory spindles for flexibility, white oak bends that steam and bend well, hard maple turnings that hold crisp edges, and poplar or pine seats that are thick yet still lightweight.
We are very committed to detal when building our furniture. All joints are wedged or pinned; the bottoms are jack-planed and some have hand carved scolls and knuckles. Our crackle and worn paint finishes provide a patina that gives the appearance of texture and age.
Sincerely,
Lawrence and Abe Crouse
